Shoreline is a Canadian Employer of Record (EOR) that makes it simple for companies to hire, pay, and manage Canadian talent — without setting up a local entity. We handle payroll, compliance, government remittances, and benefits administration so you can focus on building your team.
Shoreline offers a comprehensive group benefits plan for your Canadian employees through Equitable Insurance. Benefits become effective immediately upon enrollment — no waiting period.
The Shoreline Benefits Top-Up Package is a flat $220/month per employee, opt-in. This covers the employee and their eligible dependents (spouse or common-law partner and children under 18).
There is no cost to the employee — the full premium is employer-paid. This is a competitive differentiator when attracting Canadian talent, where extended benefits are a baseline expectation.
Cost-sharing option: Employers may also choose to split the premium with the employee at any agreed-upon ratio (70/30 is the most common). If a cost-sharing arrangement is in place, notify Shoreline and the employee's vendor-share will be deducted automatically from their paystub.
The plan covers life insurance, disability, prescription drugs, paramedical services, vision care, and dental — for the employee and their family. Full coverage details are outlined below.
Beyond the group plan, employers can authorize additional payments to support employee wellness through two mechanisms:
One-time or off-cycle payments — Cover specific employee expenses outside the standard benefits plan. Examples include gym memberships, ergonomic equipment, additional paramedical visits, wellness retreats, or professional development related to health and wellbeing. These are processed through Shoreline payroll as employer-funded benefits.
Health Spending Account (HSA) — Allocate a fixed annual amount per employee that they can use toward eligible medical expenses not fully covered by the group plan (e.g., additional dental work, higher prescription costs, orthotics, mental health services). HSA funds are tax-advantaged for the employee and a deductible business expense for the employer.
Both options are fully flexible — you set the amount and the terms. Shoreline administers the payments and ensures compliance with CRA guidelines.
All benefits extend to the employee's family at no additional cost beyond the $220/month:
